Hi, I'm Karen, the designer and maker behind The Scarlett Studio. Every banner you see here is crafted with love, care, and a touch of whimsy. I specialize in creating wool felt banners adorned with quotes, song lyrics, and words that inspire, amuse, or bring joy.

Originally from England, I now call Ontario, Canada, home. I share my lively, chaotic, and wonderfully crazy household with my husband, our four grown-up kids, and a menagerie of pets. The hustle and bustle of our family life is my constant source of energy and inspiration - there's never a dull moment!

My love of words began early, nurtured by reading the classics like Shakespeare and Jane Austen during school. Books have always been a cherished escape for me, and words have a way of weaving connections and meaning into our lives. As a family, we often quote movie lines at each other, turning everyday moments into something fun and memorable.

One of my most treasured inspirations is my grandfather, who wrote letters to me throughout my childhood. I’ve kept every single one, and his words continue to be a source of comfort and love. I even have a phrase tattooed on my arm in his handwriting—a deeply personal reminder of his influence in my life. This connection to handwriting has become part of my work as well; I love adding loved ones’ handwriting to banners, creating pieces that carry personal stories and emotions.

I work primarily with wool felt, a material I adore for its versatility, natural qualities, and warm texture. There's something incredibly satisfying about transforming this beautiful fabric into meaningful pieces of art. I've always been passionate about the power of words and find so much joy in bringing your favourite song lyrics, cherished quotes, and heartfelt words to life. It's my way of helping you reflect your memories and stories in your home decor.
